The boy, who had recurrent abdominal pain, was diagnosed with choledochal cyst with a complex variation. The surgery was skilfully conducted by a team of surgeons led by Dr. Saalim Nazki, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, assisted by Dr. Divyanshu (Postgraduate) and Mr. Rakesh Kumar (Sr OT Technician). The anaesthesia team, including consultants Dr. Ashufta Qazi and Dr. Isha Gupta, provided vital perioperative support. Postoperatively, the child was closely monitored in the Pediatric ICU and was discharged on postoperative day six in excellent condition. The said procedure is performed laparoscopically for the first time in Jammy city. He also emphasized the department's consistent efforts to bring cutting-edge surgical care to patients. Apart from this landmark case, the department has successfully carried out many other advanced laparoscopic procedures in the children, including Pyeloplasty, Tumor excisions, Fundoplications, Nephrectomies, Laparoscopic pull-through procedures, Cystoscopic and Thoracoscopic procedures to name few. The department also routinely performs essential laparoscopic surgeries such as cholecystectomies, orchidopexy, appendicectomia, and various other procedures with great success. Dr. Saalim Nazki expressed his gratitude to the present government for providing the facilities and opportunities enabling such achievements. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, Government Medical College Jammu, and Dr. Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital Jammu, for their unwavering administrative support.
